Canada has had a long, strong and proud history in aviation.

Now in Canada a model airplane is classified as drone.
I never thought of a model airplane as being a drone. To me there is a huge difference.

The up coming generation of small children that are interested in the aircraft industry will be discouraged to discover how difficult it is to enter that field.

Young Canadians will quickly drop their direction of interest when they find out
that starting in the RC Plane hobby, joining a club and being taught how to fly a model airplane safely with an instructor has become extremely difficult.

The RC Plane hobby plants the seeds, educates and grows the minds that enter
the aviation industry in Canada.

Very sad to see the seeds dying.

Completely agree, Jack. This will certainly damage , and possibly kill, our hobby. The ripple effects from that could ultimately hurt the aviation industry in the country too.
However, as those of us involved in model aviation begin to organize resistance to the silly regulations, I am hopeful the bureaucrats who are imposing these rules will start to feel some pressure.

I am sure building little planes, looking at magazines and dreaming about all those nice model airplanes when I was kid, help me deciding to learn and have a career in aerospace for almost 40 years now. I had my first control line in 1978. An electric Spitfire charging on a 6V battery.
I hope many more kids could go thru a similar path in the future.

This is the same I had: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/1976-cox-spitfire-model-electro-90312567
