Would it be worth creating a petition outlining a short list of items we would like to have as part of our recommendations to the city as added activities referencing other current proposals in other parts of Canada that are already proposed and under study for park activities and are already in use in other countries (USA, EU, MX, etc.). Then have it signed by anyone of interest - Members, Non-members, neighborhood etc.? I would join in this kind of effort.

This would leave them something to browse over when they meet to discuss the topics...Just my 2 cents.

Michel Dauth has already sent a short 300 word email to the relevant official at the City, ahead of the Public Consultation, to explain our situation and what we are looking for. We have offered them the opportunity to look at a much more comprehensive one page document with links to Club history, videos, photos, community contributions, safety record, MAAC, etc, etc.

In addition we are preparing a Powerpoint presentation which synthesizes the comprehensive document which we hope to go through with them on the 17th and leave it with them and go through it with them in more detail to make our case at a separate meeting.

As a WIMAC member I want to attend the March 17 event and hopefully by

attending along with other members and non-members

I agree with Krish's idea of a petition. I would suggest an online petition with broad support from non-Wimac members. Also I apologized for repeating one of my previous post and I'm sure the executive has already thought of these things but to mention in the presentation the multiple advantages for our youth with examples, with activities ranging from flight simulation training and support for school-based activities and career orientation. Also could be mentioned are advantages for the community and the city by organizing national competitions, air cadet involvement and and flight demonstration. We may need to expand our Wimac image for this to work.

We dont have to be there to conduct a Demonstration, I get non official information that we are in the positive way, we have to be respectful, one interlocutor that is well prepared to talk about our Club, and preferably in French, it will be well received and add positivity to the cituation.

As our Government has officially restricted meetings to small gatherings (50 or less, we totaled 44) I assumed the meeting was automatically cancelled. Dwight, thanks for confirmation. Hope this will only be postponed for now!

I understand that an online survey is planned in the spring of 2020. There does not seem to be any updates but I did receive a robocal from the city of DDO a couple of days ago and it is mentioned in the link below in the right column.

After careful consideration, the Directors consider that having any members respond to the online survey by mentioning our Club or its activities at this point would be an unnecessary risk. It would draw attention to our Club's activities in a very public forum and could potentially incite highly damaging attacks by uninformed people which would be difficult to effectively defend in that type of forum.

We are in the process of following up on earlier communications with the City with a view to putting our case via the City's Collaborative workshops with targeted groups scheduled on July 7 and 9, 2020.

If this approach fails and we decide the only course of action is to respond to the Online Public Survey, we will inform members of our Strategy/Guidelines on that as early as possible.

Therefore in the meantime we request members make no mention of WIMAC or its activities if they decide to respond to the Survey.
