I built myself a Tupolev-28 Fiddler in my spare time over the past couple of years. The Soviet Tu-28, a relic of the Cold War was the largest and heaviest fighter/interceptor ever built. I constructed it by bashing an old FMS Mirage 4000 back fuselage and wings. The front end is made primarily of soda bottles. The maiden flight was yesterday August 10th, is shown in the video below. I kept the flight short and did not retract the wheels. It was too hot and buggy, but it flew better than anticipated.
Specs:
Power system: Powerfun 70 mm 6S power unit
Esc: 60 amp ( to be upgraded to 70 amp)
Battery: 6S 1800 mah
HK mini retracts

Thank you Mezri. The flight was short but gave me all the information I needed to improve the flight characteristics. The plane was nose heavy and to compound the problem I ran out of up trim so I was flying it with the thumb firmly on the stick to prevent it from diving into the ground. Otherwise it was a stable platform. Next flight with the bugs worked out should be much smoother.

I was there doing the maiden with a Extra 300. I witnessed the flight and from my view position the flight and landing looked flawless. Great job.

Just had the 6th and 7th test flight of my semi-scratchbuilt Tu-28 Fiddler this past Sunday. I'm getting used to it, it's a very stable, fast flyer although it can slow down to a crawl. This thing just loves to fly and just doesn't want to land. Check out the high angle of attack on landing and still room for flaring. Thanks to Hector Perra for the great video he took.
