Well finally I decided to start working a bit on my Bell 222 from Funkey.
It will be used for my Trex600E and should be ready for next month. I can't devote too much time on it so I will be posting as soon as I have something new.

I have installed the Navigational lights so far and the tail strobe light. I am waiting for my 2 red beacon lights. I am using the mini-flash system for the lights and although I had purchased the red leds , it offered only strobing capabilities. But just recently the gentleman behind it came up with true beacon effect and I should have it by next week.

BTW, the lights are fully programmable in every way and could be used together with the TX and different stick positions. Very nice system indeed.

So I will be completing the lights next week, and so far I just put in the retracts also but not yet the servos. I would need the receiver to set them up as I have a circuit that would control all of them and speed and direction can be adjusted for all of them. So a slow retract system will be and not an unrealistic fast one.:)

Here's a couple of pictures of the progress so far and a couple of videos of the lighting system and one of my Trex 600 in flight after I changed the pinion to a smaller gear ratio, and installed the helical main gear for less noise. Also I trimmed the Heli a bit as it was not quite ready when I flew it briefly last month or so at WIMAC.

(A bit long that one, might want to ff)

The videos are those :

Night follows day, day follows night... and so on... All new members and helis are welcome... the more and the more different the merrier... however... why instead of hovering you guys do not put the heli in a table and revolve around it (Look, ma! nose in!). Less dangerous!

You know Albert, I've seen our safety expert André demonstrating exactly that! he clamps his heli to a lazy susan and watches it twirl around. Now, that's pro-active safety!

LOL, nice, nice.....

Well I didn't expect to work on it again so soon, but got of work early and thought to try to finish my retract servos.

Unfortunately I had to change my JR791's since they only have 2 stopping positions at 180 degrees, I wasn't able to make them work in the space I had. Too much travel with no way to adjust. So after blaming myself for getting them in the first place,(another thing to sell now) I went out and bought some cheap regular JR servos, replaced them, and after about an hour or so, managed to fit them in with a lot of frustration. >:( >:( >:(

Anyway, once this was done, I had to test my servo regulator from wingspanmodels.

:thumbsup:At least this thing worked unlike the 2 previous boards I got from them. I slowed down the speed of the retracts, and was able to set the up and down positions through it also more precisely.

I get a bit of humming when they are up but I can't do anything about it I find. Too bad.

I will use a separate battery to drive my retracts so I don't drain too much the main servo battery.

So here is 2 small videos of the retracts in action.

Later next week will have some more updates.

Hey Mario...Nice.
Can you adjust the speed going down at one setting and the speed going up on a different setting?.
If you can do that the may I suggest to have the retracts going down faster and going up slower. The reason I'm saying this is in case you have to land in a hurry, you want the retracts to come down quick.
Thats the way I had mine.
just my 2 cents.

Looking nice though.

No I can't. It's the same for both directions.
The cool thing about it ,is this circuit is actually made for AIRPLANES.

It is made to be used with wheels and doors like the P51.

Doors open, wheels come down or up, then doors close.
Also you could have all three servos in sequence for other applications.

I just set it up for all 3 to work together, because the default was the front first(door input) and the other 2 after (wheels input).

Also has inputs for other sensors and lights.

Anyway, what did you use to adjust yours at the time ?

it's called servo go slow by Jomar check the starwood models site.
My fuse is put a way for the moment so I can't take any videos to show how it works. It looks good. Just make sure that they lock when the wheels are down. Put some weight on it. Mine one wheel will not lock. It was down but when I put the heli on the floor the wheel will colapse.

Well gentlemen, I just finished my project. Here are some pictures and a small vid of the lights and Aerosound module installed.

I made some mistakes as I was working on it which caused me to have to undo the mechanics a couple of times in order to put a hand in there, but it turned out good overall.

I hovered in my garage a bit to see if everything was fine and it went considerably OK. I have a very small vibration issue but I think I have to check the blade tracking as I used the blades from my Sceady on this and had not checked them before. Also, as I spooled up one of the wheels gave in and I nicked the tail blades on the floor which might cause it. I am getting new tail blades anyway.

Retract opening positions have been re-adjusted in order to lock better. The retract circuit is nice in that way as you can adjust individually the positions of every retract.

Anyway, don't want to go on all day, here they are and a full flight video will follow in a few days...

Is the sound coming in from inside the heli, if so, that is really neat.

Elgreco

Yes Bob, it does. It's a sound module with a 4" speaker installed inside that works with the throttle channel.
It's from Aerosound RC
and they also have A LOT of airplane engine sounds. It is perfect for a scale project.
Mine is also electric which is excellent for this purpose as there is no nitro engine sound to interfere.

I went out with Billy for about 10 min only to test the bell. Man I was all over the place in the beginning.... hadn't flown the 600 for a while now, have to adjust a bit more my curves.:o

I needed to get used to the gear switch as it's on the same side as my throttle.

Anyway this is a small vid and I am planning to go the field next Sunday for extensive testing. Looks good though so far.
