I couldn't find skis big enough for my RC Guys Decathlon so I purchased some aluminum sheeting and a flat bar from Rona and made my own.
4" X 24"
I used pop-rivets to attach the bar to the sheet.
A glow engine motor mounts to attach to the landing gear.
I'll use a spring and cable assembly to hold them in the correct orientation, tips up.

Turned out Fantastic! Aluminum will slide easy. Had an aluminum toboggan years ago. It was super fast.

Yes aluminum sheeting and a aluminum bar to give strength, aluminum pop rivets.
Was an easy build, though it might have been more difficult.

If it were my project, would have attached the skis to the bar with screws. I have a pop rivet gun but never think to use it. Will store it next to the drill index as a reminder. Great tool if you think to use it. Those small plastic cases of bolts, nuts and washers at the box stores add $$$ to a project fast. The pop rivets give the skis a nice clean appearance.

Nice looking, and seems efficient, ...the spring system is nice, will hold position in the air...
