I found it very unfortunate that after reading the latest edition of MAAC magazine that there was absolutely no mention of our activities at WIMAC including our Fun Fly in early September. This year, if I recall we had a photographer on site taking multiple pictures and also for the first time a sound system with music along with an MC to keep the crowd up to date on what was happening. Our concession stand was a great success with lots of hamburgers, hot dogs, corn and soft drinks all free of charge of course with the help of some of the wives of the members. Too bad that none of this made it to the MAAC magazine.

True we did not get in MAAC mag this year which is a little disappointing. However, I dispute the use of music and MC “for the first time” as these have been features of the fun fly for many of the last twenty five years. Similarly, the included free food has been an important feature for many years.

My mistake Brian. I am only a second year member therefore was unaware of the music-MC on site. It still doesn't negate the fact that nothing was mentioned despite having a photographer on site. If I remember correctly we were also visited by our zone representative. Also we gave out some impressive prizes. Too bad. It was a great day for all however nothing mentioned.

It is still possible to post an entry, with pictures, on the
MAAC St-Laurent Zone Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/MAAC.Zone.J/)
The calendar constraints of publishing in a printed magazine are falling out of sync more and more with the reality of today's "fast and furious" social media driven pace.
I was not surprised, for example, to see the Zone AGM, to be held at the end of October, hitting my mailbox in November in the Model Aviation magazine.

Interesting subject: MAAC magazine.
I find it essentially boring, except when there are good technical articles (very rare). And also not very actual by the time we have it in our hands.
In order to have a feature published in the magazine the deadlines for submission are quite in advance of the date of publication.
And in order to have an article published (about WIMAC, let's say) there has to be a dedicated writer and photographer who will take the responsibility. A Director? Already quite busy, as everybody else. A member? Already quite busy as everybody else.
I suggested to MAAC (Zone Director) some years ago to replace it by publishing it in the MAAC Web page. Shot down "because not all members have a computer" (?????). MAAC could have saved oodles of money.
I suggested also that the members could opt out of receiving the magazine with an accompanying reduction in membership fees. "Nyet!"

But bailey, at WIMAC we always say "If you have an idea you own it!" Volunteer?

Hi Albert, Actually it's not my idea but simply a comment. I see that all the articles are written by the zone directors of which I am not so even if I wanted to write an article who would publish it. Seems from what I am noticing we are not in very favorable stead with our zone director.

Didn't know about the reduction in fee however it's too late now. It's already off my Visa.
