Well just got my kit in, going to build a Badan Vertigo 2M this winter, which will be running on a dle-61 with a re2 pipe, hopefully.

Is the 2m = 2 Meter?

Actually this is a 3d airplane our runway as a lot of wasted space for this type of plane:D
P.S. would be nicer with a Hacker A60 18M electric, no mess no maitenance no bothering the neighbours no pollution ++++

But very inefficient.... and more expensive for shorter flight times
Gas
- BME58 - 1,180g
- Carl Muller Header - 70g
- ES composite tuned pipe - 123g
- 500mL fuel tank system - 112g
- IBEC ignition kill - 17g
- throttle servo (Savox 1250) - 30g
- 500mL of fuel - 435g
--------------------
Total = 1,967g
Electric
- Hacker A60-18L - 795g
- 135A ESC (Mezon) - 140g
- Castle 12S BEC - 60g
- 12S-5000 batts - 1660g
- Connectors and wiring - 56g
--------------------
Total = 2711g
So full of fuel, the gasser is 744g lighter or 1.64lbs.
Near end of run (no fuel), the gasser is 1100g lighter or 2.42lbs.

interesting weight comparison. How much weight does the electric version lose as the battery runs down?

You will have to get an electron scale...:D

I actually land my 42% in my profile picture in under 50' stopped, trying to figure out how to fit it in my new car Saturday, the rudder does not come off

I believe you are missing the ignition battery in the list but that should not be very heavy.
However, there is more weight saving possible on the electric version as you have (almost) no vibrations. Motor mount could be lighter, servos could be smaller/lighter, receiver battery could be smaller as the battery consumption is a lot less, ect. Even the structure of the airplane could be made lighter and still last for a long time. It's a complete package to be optimized.
The motor behavior and response is very different too.
In the end it's a personal choice and it's difficult to put numbers to it.

Xavier, you forgot to mention the weight of the speaker necessary for the electric version to give the same put-put-put sound!:)

Looking good Chris! Are you using epoxy to glue the sheeting on? If so, is it thinned?:)

Using west system 10% thinned and dyed red for visibility, then vac bagged.
I am actually impressing myself, and enjoying the build. i did a few kits in the day, but this is a builders kit, very little instruction, and quite different

Slow progress, renovating the basement at the same time.
Tail done, will start on the canopy today.

I hope the colored epoxy will not create difficulties for covering with light colors like white.

It should not but could add a base coat of white if needed, it only got pulled through a few seams.
Must say vacuum bagging foam core is the only way, canopy mounted and gluing.

The white covers well, but the yellow seems translucent, I will pickup a roll of monokote yellow instead of ultrakote and see if that is more opaque.

Getting there, going to do the belly in black.
Yellow monokote is much more opaque then ultrakote.
