I picked up one of the small HK 3d printers a few weeks ago and have been having fun making a few things. Here is my Emax 250:
1. FPV camera mount with an 8 degree up tilt. Designed it myself to fit my camera which had 28mm spacing on the hole centers.
2. Mobius camera mount. This is actually two pieces. The tray for the mobius, and a wedge that picks up from the vibration isolators. The first comes from thingiverse unmodified. The second started from thingiverse and I adapted it.
Great fun.http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/11/03/b914a95ec9fbaa44a14e50d9da6b6a1e.jpg

I would wait for more reviews on the new two-headed model. Otherwise tempting. The one I have is small - good enough for what I have wanted to do, but it will be a limit at some point.

Repetier for the control. Any CAD tool for designing parts, but I use FreeCAD.

Prints only with PLA. I am no expert, but from what I have read you need a heated bed for ABS and this printer does not have one. Adding a heated bed to a printer seems to be a fairly common task (and it looks like the controller board can handle it), but the heated bed parts I have seen on the web are too large for this printer. If you buy one purchase the PLA filament at the same time - price is very good and the parameters they suggest for the setup work fine with their filament.
If you are not interested in getting into CAD check thingiverse to see the variety of designs available for download.
If you want something larger and don't mind assembly search for "Prusa I3" on eBay - many available based on the same basic design.
There is an RCGroups forum on 3D printing where you can find quite a bit of info.

I must say with emphasis and very happy: "We will never run out of toys"
And remember: the one who dies with the most toys... wins!

Would it be very hard to design parts with a lot of holes to make them lighter but still have good strength ... using some engineering algorithm to put the holes in the best places?

I think it was time for a new avatar.

The interior of the parts is a honeycomb structure and you can specify the density of the structure. The details are worked out by the "slicer" that takes cuts through the model and plans how the nozzle will be moved when building the part.
