For the gyro do you want a 3GX for cheap?:D

I got the VBAR Silverline(they carry them at Rotorquest now) but the other guys use BeastX or Ikon. For motor maybe Scorpion? ESC CC talon 90(that's what I got).

I'll let the real experts put in their advice.

[QUOTE=Kevin Rochon;41305]For the gyro do you want a 3GX for cheap?:D

Maybe it will work in my heli :D:D

I was looking at the Scorpion HKIII-4025-1100KV run on 6s, also at rotorquest I can get a conversion kit with a shorter boom and put 550 blades on it for 6s, didn't get a chance to read up on it yet.

why the shorter boom, on my 550 it's the boom from the 600, I guess more maneuverable?

Did some reading last night, probably go with the BeastX for the Gyro and the Scorpion HK-4025-630KV (6mm Shaft) on 10s.

kevin thy put the 600 boom because of 2 things 1 the 550 blade would it the tail blade whit dfc head and 2 that's helifreak theorie align change the ratio of the tail it is a lot slower because people would use so much hight head speed so people like me and you don t use those head speed whit the shorther boom whe would lose tail authority in a head speed bellow 2400 rpm

a lot of people change the tail ratio from v2 to the old v1

Thanks Frank for the info.

Michel I did a bit of reading also and I think it's going to be better with 10s for power but you could start out with 6s to stay mild while learning, but that's not your style hey;)

If I go 6s it's not the same motor 1100kv vs 630kv, so I think I'm going with the 10s setup and yes not my style to stay in place:D:D

I ordered the beastX now just the tail servo and I should have everything.

Get onto "rotorquest" re the best motor as they sell Outrage and are very reasonable. As regarding the gyro you are probably flybarless so Beastx would be my choice for value for money but there are others out there of course.

Yep, you were right, now i'm hooked, joining the dark side, only thing is I need a good instructor so you have no choice to join the club again and help me get my solo heli :D:D

Yes it is a different challenge and a lot more in the setup then planes, I'm still new at this so a lot to learn but i'm enjoying it.

Hows everything with you, planning to fly this summer??

Man, I really want to but last year or so I have been with kids activities 7 days a week. Hockey, soccer, gymnastics...etc...

I like it, don't get me wrong , but it takes all my free time in the evening, where you usually need to do all the setups. It's not the flying time the problem. It's the bench time unfortunately.
But to answer your question, yes. I want to get back into it.

I plan to make an attempt to get into it once the weather gets really nice.
I'll pass by for sure. I always check the site and keep up with what's going on.

See you at the field sometime. Glad you got it. It's a different game with that.
Much more setup time. Any questions, post, I'll try to answer.

See you.

Motor: Scorpion HK4025-630kv, 13T pinion gear, bat 12s 3300mah

My 550 has got 520mm mains and 90mm tail, I think with your 12s it's like a 600, so maybe 620mm mains and 95mm tail?

What do they recommend for this Outrage?

I would go with rail blade 600 and 95 with your set up should be super.... just like that I have 550 blade on my 550 and my 600 is a lot more stable but my esc come down a lilte bit hoter than before just from 520 t0 550 but improve stability .....I think you could put 620 but I think 600 is a great size

2014-04-04, 05:10 PM
What Frank said.
The longer length would give you more lift not as agile...matter of preference once you fly long enough to tell the difference.....

Carbon fiber always, and brand...well, again the more you try, you will end up having a favorite. Don't worry about it for now. I used most of the time radix, but railblades were out when I last flew, I just didn't get much experience with them...

Have fun.

A little update;

mdauth
2014-04-06, 10:21 AM
I assemble the main grip, I keep getting one grip that is more thigh and the other really free, I changed the washer and bearing around and still get one side tight. It's always the side where i put my screw last on shaft. Is that normal and will loosen after a couple of flights.

JimmyG
2014-04-06, 12:19 PM
Both grips should be very smooth and free. Double check the assembly to be sure nothing is missing and nothing is in in backwards.

2014-04-06, 12:37 PM
+1 on what JimmyG said ..... some time depending on the grease you use it can be stiff so if you have more on one side it can make a difference .... I try a lot of grease and automotive grease make your bearing notchi ....if its the grease that come from the kit keep going with that one if not check if you can get some align or something similar its very thin grease almost oil

Kevin Rochon
2014-04-06, 12:54 PM
I remember from my 550 build it's easy to put something backwards specially in the head, there were some washers with bearing that if you put them backwards it doesn't fit then you scratch your head for a while:o

mdauth
2014-04-06, 01:09 PM
Yes, didn't realize the thrust bearing washer had a smaller hole on one side. Still having a problem tho. Is this normal when I tighten the hex screws the thrust bearing don't turn, it seems the spacing on the smaller side of the shaft is not enough. If I just put the screws snug the bearing move a bit more freely.

JimmyG
2014-04-06, 04:14 PM
Check that the washers are in correctly. If I remember there is 1 that has a raised portion that should face the bearing. That potion should sit on the inner race of the bearing.

mdauth
2014-04-06, 04:27 PM
Just found the problem, the thrust bearing is defective, they mentioned a problem with it on HeliFreak. I tried one off Tarek's Trex 600 head and the problem is fixed. I guess I'll order a couple of new ones.

Thanks for the help

Maybe you will beat Kevin's number of postings with this heli....
What have you done, Michel!
Went to the dark side and now you cannot get out.
Every screw is a doubt, each servo an anxiety, every turn of the screwdriver a pain in the soul...
You were such a happy fellow flying 3D, smoking the skies, buzzing around.
There is time, see the light, renounce your sins, come back to the fold!
