My name is Seb McKinnon and I'm an aspiring filmmaker from Montreal.
I'm working on a very special short film, the main character being a 1930's pilot.

I'm looking for a 1/4 scale yellow tiger moth RC plane to use in this film.
Shooting it outdoors and indoors (on green screen, not flying).

Can anyone help??
Any lead on this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
:)

I have one from a Bud Bradley kit. It took me 4 years to build.
It is the Canadian version with the winter green house canopy.
Similar to the one in the Ottawa Museum. RCAF WWII roundels
and registration 5884. They were used in the BCATP program
during the war to train allied pilots.
It has a brand new DLE 30 engine which needs to be run in.
Instructor/Trainee are 1/4 scale pilots.

BCATP.... British Commonwealth Air Training Program. They were based
all over Canada. Nearby, they were in St Eugene with an alternate
strip at St Lazare (Not Norm Coopers) Mont Joli with an alternate
strip at Riv.-du-Loup.

What a beautiful model Xavier!!
Our film's concept and art direction requires an all yellow plane (we're using the colour yellow as a visual link between our characters).

Forgive me if this sounds blasphemous to you model plane collectors and experts out there, but would it be possible to do a paint-job on your model for our shoot? and then paint it back the way it was afterwards?

Our production would cover any material costs and extra time this would take.
You would also be paid for this gig, and get credit in the film as "props manager" and "pilot"… Let me know what you think! :)

It would be a lot of trouble for me to repaint the airplane twice and frankly, I have other priorities. If someone wants to buy the plane and do it, that's could be a possibility.

Hello Xavier;
Looks like this guy does not see how much work which goes into painting
a model. It took me many many hours to paint mine. Just the RCAF
roundels alone took close to one month. Imagine all the masking that
has to be done to do the circles of different colours. Let the paint dry
and cure so it become safe to tape for the next circle, how to prevent
the colours from bleeding under the tapes, etc. YA, just paint over
yellow and we will pay for the paint.....YA kiss my airbrush!

By the way I have tried to open up your photos and I could not. is it
because of a new APPS you are using by taken photos with your cellfone?
See you at the Manoir soon and I would like to see your Tiggie.
I will have a full folder of many photos of mine soon.<

The pics did not work for me also on your first post of the pics. Now it worked. Also as your plane is yellow underneath, they can take the movie of the Moth from the bottom. As the plane is in the air it wold look yellow and if they take it from the top you go inverted, yellow again. You just have to think about it. Takes brains. Did I say that?

That's a good idea bob,
however, the scene features the plane crashing into the ocean during a storm. We don't see the actual crash, but we do see the struggle of the pilot trying to keep control of the plane in high winds! So this means shooting the plane tilting often, revealing all angles of the plane itself, that's why it needs to be all yellow. :)

I suppose we could, but wouldn't that be a much more tedious job? Forgive me people, I know nothing about model building
