For sure this is going to be a short thread;) HoHoHo
Well go my small GH order today. I already had a park 250 but it had a lot of battle fatigue I remember sometime it didn't want to start so got a new one.

2200kv, I had to "remove" the electronic from last years plane, so now ready to build, and I'm off all of next week:)

Did a little bit of work yesterday. It is slow to start because there seems to be many ways to build it and I'm trying to do the best way without make a mistake.

Sorry Kevin for not answering faster. Here are some pictures of my build.
https://picasaweb.google.com/109974795506183947946/Symmetric2012#
I hope it helps. If you have specific question, I could try to answer also.
Keep it light is the most important as for all indoor planes. Mine was the heaviest at the event in Germany and it was obvious by the speed on level flight compare to uplines.
WC F3P 2013 - Xavier Mouraux - YouTube
I have been more careful on the planes I build since and it makes them so much easier to fly and more fun.
I plan to be at the indoor evenings more often this year.

Kevin Rochon
2013-12-29, 09:59 PM
Doesn't look like much but I had to sand the top fuse part to get it o fit properly. I use UHU to glue the servos should be lither than hot glue.

Hi Kevin, what kind of prop are you using on the 2200kv motor?
I use the same motor and I need help to build my own plane. Can you please give me the flying weight with battery and dimension of the plane?
Kevin Rochon
2013-12-30, 12:16 AM
prop GWS 8x4.3
Wing sp. 85 cm
Fuse 96 cm
weight 120 to 140g
I won't be able to tell you exactly how much because I don't have a precise scale(bathroom one won't do + it lies all the time;))
Tonight I did the elevator.

Xavier

You will have a very nice plane Kevin :-)
The horn are fine. One thing thatis not on my pictures is the linkage on the ailerons use ball links from the trex 250. It could be at both end of the carbon rod for best result or only on the servo. It gives precise control and no play. Here is a picture on another of my plane.
https://picasaweb.google.com/m/zoom?uname=109974795506183947946&aid=5826850797665811345&id=5826850833760797506&viewportWidth=320&viewportHeight=416
I have seen it used on elevator also.

Je n'ai pas de petit ball link mais des EZ connectors. Did both ailerons, probably will finish the plane tonight?

Nice work Kevin !! I'm same stage as you also installing the motor , ESC and landing gear.Different Model do !
After you screw the motor in , do you apply a bit of CA behind the screws so they stay locket ?
Will post wen Finish :)

If you have a wood 'firewall' you don't need to add ca on the screws.
On my Armonia, I inserted small pieces of balsa in the foam like little dowels and screwed the motor in these. No firewall so it's lighter.
On my Spies The Glavak motor came with small pieces of plastic to be inserted in the foam. There are flexible sleeves between the motor and the plastic dowel so the trust is adjustable. Very light.

Good job Kevin , ca va être un model de haute précision . I'm planning to buy the Saturn Evolution from Icare. Did any one know this plane... did I need to increase or add airbrake for better slow flying I will use a E-Flite 180 2200kv and a hacker x-7 amp and a 280 mAh lipo
Xavier
2013-12-31, 12:18 PM
I have that one too :-)
I found it more sensitive than the monoplanes like the Symmetric. Maybe because it is a little heavy (175g). It is an old design with no milling of the foam. The Park 180 will be working hard I think. If you are willing to machine the foam down like on newer kits or use milar, then it could be good. The original was using the Axi 2203 and was about 170g. The park 180 would only allow level flight. I tried one on an airplane that was a lot lighter and it wasn't fun. I believe the 180 will be fine for a model around 100g. I should try it again now that I have lighter models.
For about the same price, I would go with a newer models like the new Citrino from Donatas Design if you want a bipe. For monoplane, the Clik Evo available from Icare is good too if you keep it light. I tried a few indoor models as you could see on the picture below ... :-)

Well CG it depends what do they say in the instructions? Usually you will be able to adjust with Batt. placement. For carrying it you need to make something custom out of cardboard. I'll see I can't modify the one I had last year, not sure it's big enough.

This light airplanes could easily be damaged by a gust while walling from the car to the building. Ideally you want a box to protect the plane. It could be made of white foam, blue foam, coroplast, carboard, plywood ect.
Duct tape could be used to assemble the box or sealant for a foam box. Nails, screws or tacks (sp?) for the wood ones.

Ok I reworked the carrying box so here is V2. Not closed at the top but I can always put a bag if it snows or rains. Also I bought some O-rings at Rona, they looked the rights size, and they are just a bit bigger than the original but they fit ok and you get 25 for 4$

Was nice to see Gilbert.
So my Symmetric was acting up the Eflite motor gets really hot, barely can touch it, plus it looses power. So I change the ESC for the GreatPlanes one temporarily hooking it up and it was much better. So I solder everything and put it back on the plane and guess what...it didn't want to work anymore, it just gitters but doesn't turn. So I had to put on the HK motor I had last year, unfortunately heavier, but a lot of power.
BTW I put aside the Harvard and cleaned up my workshop so now I can start the Bigfoot.:)

I couldn't see anything broken even when I took it apart.
But I finally got my small Lipos from HK, almost a month, it came from Malaysia. So that should compensate for the heavier motor.
