Hi guys! Just completed my first build from a kit. Man what an experience. It went ok. Need to get My monokote skills down pact. I will not fly this puppy for awhile as you all know this is a complex plane to fly. I will need help getting the flight surfaces tuned. Go to this section to view my pictures of the build.

Looks like an excellent piece of work. Congratulations! Building from scratch is an excercise in patience and frequent visits to the Hobby shop to get more tools and things you don't know the name for. The instructions often have you staring at the words for hours searching for the true meaning (if any). Also don't forget that covering with Monokote or any other covering is a lifetime learning process....but don't worry you can see things in the finish others will never even notice.

Thanks guys for the comments. Yes Mike this was an exercise in everything you mentioned!!!:p It was good though. BTW fiberglass work on the cowling was quite an experience. My boating fiberglass skills came into play. What scares me most is crashing such a machine when I take the controls. I know for sure that someone at the club will need to fly it before I do. As I took my time with the build I will take my time with the fly and admire it for awhile. When is the next indoor fly?

I need the timings and the place. I think you guys fly in the school gym right? i have ordered a neat little flyer myself. Just have to wait and get it assembled. http://www.greathobbies.com/productinfo/?prod_id=GPMA1130. should be fun I think. It will train me for the other plane I think. In the meantime. I have been fine tuning the control surfaces on the 10-300. it is neat. They give you templates to tune the surfaces. All the angles are on two separate pieces of wood for rudder and elevator and there is an aileron tuner for stunt and regular flight angles and a zero point to center the aileron. Did that last night. I still need help with the ( I think you call it) "throws" which limits the left right or up down limits of the control surfaces right? Man the club should have indoor workshops for the for beginners!!!

Hey Stephy nice Bipe good work, but the indoor one don't want to be a party pooper but it's kind of heavy at almost 9 oz, most of us stay at 5 to 6 oz. It will be ok but you will have to fly a bit faster and in a small gym like the one we use the walls comes fast.
Since you already ordered it make sure you cut down anywhere you can on the weight(read Xavier's article in the MAAC mag.). Go with the smallest Lipo you can get; we use 2S and your's ask for 3S try to see if you could use 2S Lipo.
I would try to fly it the first time outdoors on a very light windy day, just keep the Lipo warm until it's time to fly.
Hope that helps:)

Yes I suspected it might be a bit much. I will keep the weight down as you suggest. The cells I have ordered and the motor are not as beefy as the plane can take I went with the kit you mentioned so I should be ok. Check out the video they have posted on the plane. scroll down for the video: http://www.electrifly.com/parkflyers/gpma1130.html . In one scene they show a gym and two of them flying within. It looks pretty small in there. I am supposing the gym is at least as big as that? :)

Someone needs to make a DC-3 in Buffalo airways livery. I'm sure it would make it onto their show, Ice Pilots NWT.

Looks good Dave. I will need you help when the time comes giving my baby a solo. I will work out the control surfaces with Tony so all you have to do is plug and fly. Man do you build anything small anymore? I think you are supplying your Israeli buddies with drones. It is just missing Hellfire missiles!!;)
