Gees they did something very dangerous. A little branch in the tail rotor and they were going down.
I don't think any serious pilots like the ones I know from Canadian Helicopters would have attempt this rescue.
Besides that it was a very cool video.

Serious pilots?! lol The best heli pilots fly their R22's daily, in considerably more extreme situations. Just another days work for cattle musterers in Australia. Piloting skill is all relative. :)

Yes Dan pretty soon we need a helicopter like that at the club. Lots of pilots crashed at the top of the trees this week end. Now the million dollar questions is do we have to start a voting thread on that? will the decision be 50+one or its 2/3 of votes needed?

wow nice but we can have that all we need is some tubing a gas engine(old lawnmower maybe) we could keep it in a container at the club with the generator:D

Crash and burn does not mean that the pilots die, for the most part they survive with little or no injury, the helis usually get trashed. Helicopters have an average of 9.84 crashes per 100 000 hours of flight, with only 1.3 deaths per 100 000 hours of flight. The point being, is that you are likely to survive a heli crash due to their inherent nature of low flying. Flying at 5000 feet with a single engine plane statistically causes more deaths. I don't hear people saying:" Oh my, that guy in the cessna is crazy!" How many single engine airplanes flying from point A to B do you think crash and cause fatalities every year?! :)

Wow, Daniel! That rescue is amazing. I really like the pilot's enthusiasm. "Them guys are f-----n' trippin' ".
