A colleague found this old pattern ship in the garbage. Complete with retracts, Rossi engine with tuned pipe and one old Kraft carbon wiper servo. The engine is probably no good. Missing half the horizontal stabilizer.
Probably dates back to the late 70's early 80's. It is fiberglass fuse, foam core wing and weighs a ton! From the markings an old member from MRCC named Marcel with MAAC #6206.
Not sure if I'll fix it up or give it away! Any takers?http://img.tapatalk.com/4c419161-b917-71eb.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/4c419161-b922-ebdc.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/4c419161-b92e-3c29.jpg

Marcel was the owner of the old MRCC field along chemin des puces
in Ste Marthe. Ken Starkey or Bob Forest can fill you up on more info.

beautiful aircraft. I have something similar that I bought from Krish around ten years ago . Mine is called Atlanta . It is heavy , all fiberglass fuselage , fully sheeted wings, with an ancient OS 60, tuned pipe and mechanical retracts. It flies beautifully, great tracking, excellent axial rolls. My only problem has been getting the motor to run consistently. I recommend repairing the tail and flying it.

Now you've got me intrigued! Maybe some TLC and fly it...

Yes Marcel Boulanger was the owner of that plane, he died about 8 or 9 years ago. When we started the MRCC we had a grass field on Chemin St. Emanuel in St. Clet, for one year as we had a problem with the farmer. Then the second year Marcel joined our club and heard about our prediciment about losing fields. So he bought 120 acres out there, and installed 3 runways in the shape of an A so that we could take off any way, no matter which way the wind was. We are talking 3 runways paved of 400 feet long by 75 feet wide with perfect cut grass on each side and about 100 feet of grass at each end. It was the best flying field in North America. We had all the big names come to Montreal for our patter meets. Big american names, and canadians. Then many years after I left the hobby in 77, Marcel got involved in golf. He sold the land back in the late 80's and bought a golf course in Florida so that he did not have to wait for a tee off. We will never see those yeaers again.
Re the plane can't recall the name, as many of them looked in that style.

Thanks Bob! Quite an interesting story. Does anyone have pictures of the old field? I'm sure many would enjoy looking photos of Canadian RC history.

OK guys, here is the answer for the plane. I got in touch with Gerry Dale an old member of the MRCC who designed his own planes and I thought it looked like one of his. Marcel Boulanger use to get Gerry to build for him. So here is the email I got back from Gerry.
to be sure need to know if the fuselage is wood or fiberglass. It very
much looks like a Mach I but would have to have a wood fuselage. It should
be restored, it was definitely Marcel's and has his favorite engine -
Rossi! It is not one of mine as it is much slimmer than the Proton.
Trenton RC Flyers have pages of classic pattern photos that they have
collected over the years, very interesting viewing.
So will get back to Gerry and tell him it is fiberglass. for sure it was Marcel's

I posted the question on the NSRCA forum and the 2 answers I have for now suggest it is a Dirty Birdy. I compared to pictures on the website Bob suggested and it looks really close. The Mach 1 has a little ridge on top of the fuse between the canopy and the fin.

I think that I could make new elevators using the remaining one as a template. I should be able to get color matching the rest of the plane.
Obviously, I would put modern servos and radio. I will check with Robert L for any info about the Rossi motor. I am not sure I will try to make the air retract work. We could see marks under the belly and the wing indicating it had some wheel up landings...
I am not giving any date for the first flight :-)
