View Full Version : Field Day - MAY 5TH - RAIN DAY - MAY 6TH, 2012
Field day this spring is scheduled for May 5/2012 Sat 11:00 am.
If rain is forecasted we will move to May 6 Sun 11:00 am.
With the absents of Stephane, I will cordinate/organize field day.
Mike already confirmed that he will take care of the food, that means we will be eating real good stuff, again. Thanks Mike.
Jobs to be performed.
1.Dismantle Winter protection from Cabin.
2. Install GEO-TEX under runway (West side).
3. Fix starting stations and build 1 new one.
4. Repair safety fences around all pits.
5. Repair pot holes on main entrance road.
"Tools" who's bringing what?
Will split up in groups as usual, this system works the best.
It's also a good idea to have team leaders for each job, just to keep the group moving in the same direction.
So Mike's got the Food.
I'll take care of Repairing the pot holes.
I'll order a load of Gravel and bring my trailer with ATV to spread gravel on pot holes. I checked out the road last week and it should be a easy fix.
Mike - Food
James - Repair pot holes, I need about 5 guy's for this job.
All members are welcome to participate.
Cheers,
James

Some of our members (and most likely more in the future) are flying automated aircraft. They usually need a place to setup their computer and sometimes their FPV rigs.
We should consider building a small table at one or more of the pilot stations to facilitate this.

Hello,
I have a 23 HP John Deere backhoe with bucket, BUT I don't have a trailer or vehicule capable of towing it to the field from St-Lazare. Anyone? Total weight is 3000 lbs. Here is the tractor; http://www.watchobs.com/image/obj26geo12pg1p12.jpg (http://www.watchobs.com/image/obj26geo12pg1p12.jpg)
Also, isn't the windsock in need of some repair?
and finally, GEO-TEX is actually used as the runway surface at many sites in the USA. Of course, it would take lots more work and monies to do away with our conveyor belt and replace it with GEO-TEX. I suppose we'd be using it only for drainage/stabilizer; example http://www.usfabricsinc.com/products/rcaircraftgeotextile

Cheers you all. Sorry I can't make it to the field day but I got something of interest to the club. As Andre stated is a good idea. First of how wide and how long is the runway?
I have two rolls of Geotextile 12.5' x 360'
If we can use it let me know. But the club has to make arrangements to pick them up from my work.
They are too big for my car.
Let me know.
Cheers

Zorba,
that's not a problem - I can trailer two rolls if the management wanted it so. I can't see the rolls being more than 500 lbs a piece? My trailer front and back *doors* can flip down to allow 20 foot items, but I'm limited to 2000 lbs gross weight, or some 1200 lbs of cargo.
BTW, two rolls 12.5'x360' is more than enough.
Cheers

No problem Ronald. I wasn't expecting it to be done this weekend. When ever you guys are ready let me know and I'll have it shipped to the shop and you can pick it up from there.
There's NO charge to the club.

Does the greotexile breaks down with UV?
I don't know Michael. I have to check and see which grade we have. Apperantely the C-300W is the best.
They all break down with UV but it depends of the process of manufacturing.

The material to go under the runway at the end that is growing all of the grass and weeds, was purchased last year. I will bring it. So no need to get more. Does anyone have a pickup truck that we can fill with the junk that is scattered about at the field? We can dump the load in my front yard and the city will haul it away. The runway job needs scissors or box cutters, flat shovels, rakes, crow bars, and large hammers. Shawn.
