Very interesting but who are they? Where are they located? All pics show euro coins for comparison but Greece is in the Euro zone... ahem! (No offense, Bill and Mario!)
And even if I didn't spend too much time reading it seems they are long in words and short in details...
They have a "Documentation" tab but... just flips you back to the main page...
To be followed....

Prices are high - quite apart from the basic unit, check out the add-on switches.

Supposed to be open source - both H/W and S/W, but I can't find anything in the way of code or schematics.

If you really want open source, try this (http://9xforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4). There is a community of people that develop new firmware for the cheap Turnigy 9x (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store/__8991__Turnigy_9X_9Ch_Transmitter_w_Module_8ch_Re ceiver_Mode_1_v2_Firmware_.html). One of the firmware loads (http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/er9x-transmitter-now-with-mavlink) lets it receive MAVLink packets which are used to control some autoilots (like the APM I use). Now they even have some prototype replacement processor cards for this radio. And if you really wanted a JR compatible DSMX radio, you can modify the 9X by swapping in a module taken from a cheap DX4E transmitter by following these (http://9xforums.com/wiki/index.php/How_to_modify_your_9x_to_the_DSM_protocol) instructions. Frustrating to have to pay $70 to upgrade a $60 radio, but after $130 you are in pretty good shape.

If I wasn't so caught up in the FPV stuff I would buy one of these $60 radios and start playing.

The only real improvement in transmitters in the future will be when you can program it in your computer with a graphical interface that shows exactly what you are doing.
Also, I have seen guys here that fly huge (repeat, huge!) turbine jets (50 Lbs. thrust, 2 Gals. of fuel up, 9 minutes flying time!) and cannot figure out why their 12FG does not deploy their flaps equally. It does not match flying material with radio know how.
And so it goes...
Yes Bill, finally I figured it out it was from Cyprus... are they at the forefront of R/C technology?
