I am responding not to the settings of the sim but to what you said you were doing with it.

Don't take this the wrong way but if you try to do 3d or "play "around with it, forget about advancing fast or even properly. Remember what I had told you about playing with it. The moment you stop practicing the basics now that you are a beginner, that is the moment you fall behind.

There are a lot of people the skip basics and want to do 3d, but when something goes wrong, they can't recover and crash. Learn how to fly in ALL upright orientations first without losing it, and THEN worry about other stuff.

Again, don't mean to burst your bubble but it's only that your learning curve will be slower. Only time and experience will show you the value of what I am telling you.
Keep it up anyway.

PS. Take off some exponential in the sim so that you make the heli more "twitchy". That might help.

As Elgreco said, never skimp on the basics.
Your wallet will be much happier also.

The sim always feels more steady because you don't have the elements to worry about. Plus it is setup perfectly. Real thing, is a different story.

Your helicopters will fly as well as you build them. Simulator will teach you controls and orientation so you are able to keep it in the air.
Adjusting to the real thing is one step you will have to take eventually and only practice will help you. The point of the sim is that when you do lift off, you are not all over the place and crash.
Keep it up, it will come.

So i guess taking off and not trying to hover to close to the floor might be another problem of mine

You did not mention how your weather was set up on Phoenix, if it is default you are flying calm day. When you flew the real thing how was the weather? Wind will cause lift on the rotor blades and gust will make it go up and down by itself. I always set phoenix for brisk day or fair wind when I practice. There is something else I noticed with Phoenix and I have no idea why. Using the DX5 radio it is easier to hover then when I use the DX6i. Actually it is easier to hover my Blade 400 with the DX6i then the simulator and this I probably know why. My pitch is set at zero degrees at middle stick, but the full travel goes from -2 to +6 degrees for hover only with +4.5 degrees at 3/4 stick. If your Trex is set for 3D then you are probably going from -10 or -12 to +10 or +12 degrees so any little movement on the stick makes a few degrees of changes. If this is your problem you can try changing your pitch setup or add some expo around the hovering pitch angles which is about +5 degrees.

That was my 2 cents
Happy flying:D

In Real Flight I set the simulation control to realistic, then I set up a 8-12 mph crosswind (70degres) and finish off with 35% turbulence. Also, practice with full and half rates.
