Hello guys,

I have couple questions about Hobby King's shipping. I know that for the most of you, if it happens to have LiPo's, these are from HK, because from what I saw at the Club it was at 95% of time LiPo's branded Zippy, Turnigy, and Rhino. So, if possible and willing to do so, can you guys please tell me about your own experience with HK shipping.

I have already ordered from them once in the past and it was trough Air Mail Parcel (the cheapest one), so I was pretty much satisfied with the 7 working days that it needed to deliver my parcel. Any ways, wasn't much to be worried because those Items were valuated at 40$.

This past December the 4th, I ordered some stuff again from them, but this time the value is over 300$. I asked to use the EMS Express to Canada as shipment method. This time things are not going that fast. They needed more than 72 hours to prepare and do the shipment of my order compared, when at my first order they did it in no more than 24 hours.

Then, Singapore Post entered the scene. Here is the actual tracking info available about this parcel.

Date and Time Location Status Reason

12/12/2011 09:12 Handover to Airline

12/12/2011 09:11 Processing at Air Transit Center

09/12/2011 14:58 Processing at Sorting Center

08/12/2011 21:29 Acknowledged at Transit Center

08/12/2011 19:50 Shipments in transit from Origin

And that was it. No more news about it since :sorry:. This is the status on my parcel as today: ''Handover to Airline'' until today, Thursday Dec. 15th 2011 at 15:00.

The first time, I asked the cheapest shipment method and I was able to track my parcel all the way until Montreal. So, what the hell if I paid more for a supposed '' Express '' service.

:angry::swear::unhappy::suspicious: !!!!!

So please, tell me about your experience with HK, so I can have an idea of what to expect now. I'd been doing some research on the net and I found info saying that the carrier for Canada with Singapore Post is Purolator. Is it true? In my fisrt order, my parcel was handled by Hong Kong Post and then handover to Canada Post. How it happened for you guys, when you ordered through EMS?

Thanks you in advance guys, and one thing is for sure. That was my last order from them.

Rudy, our hobby is the eternal wait... for good weather, good winds, runway free, shipments....
Start looking at Canada Post.
It takes an average of 14 to 18 days for that kind of shipment.,...
Buena suerte!

Thanks for reply Don Alberto.

When never I try my Tracking # at the Canada Post web site it gives the same results:

We were not able to find any results

What is frustrating is the fact that the first time I paid less for shipping and it needed only 7 working days to be delivered. So I'm wondering how it can takes 14 to 18 days for their supposed '' EXPRESS '' service.

Thank you again.

HK is pretty good at shipping, sometimes they have some items marked as JIT which are those kept in their second warehouse, thats why it takes about a week to be shipped.

I actually have an item shipped from China (EMS) about a week ago and its been delayed in Richmond for couple of days. I'm guessing its the custom that is being slow!

I think they use the USA warehouses as a dispatcher for the Nord America.

In your case, who is handling your parcel now? is it Canada Post?

I've had some orders arrive quickly (7days) and during the postal strike it took over a month for a large order to arrive. I was upset also but really can't complain for the $ saved. Don't order something you need rush from HK.

I made an order back in August for some batteries. EMS took 2 months. I hope you have better luck.

With LIPOs, it took almost 3 weeks.
Last order with out LIPOs took 1 week.
Both were EMS.

There are significant issues with shipping LiPo batteries by air due to flammability concerns. This has meant that HK has had to come up with some creative routings. I agree that they should be able to get their stuff out of the warehouse quicker, but shipping is going to remain a problem they can't do much about unless they get a local warehouse (or let HK US sell to us).

Andrew is right. When you order batteries it will take long no matter how they shipped them. When i first started buying from HK at least two years ago it was super fast. No restrictions. Today it is safety first with Hong Kong post. HK has to send the package quite far by truck to another city to be able to ship out of China.
If you have no batteries in your order it should be fast.

The only issue I have with HK is the EMS service.
EMS is quicker but it takes so long to process the order that
it's not worth it.
Use regular shipping.

I'm still not happy with the HK shipping but at least I know where is my parcel today (13 days after placing my order). It's here in Canada (Mississauga). By next Tuesday I should finally have it. Thanks to all of you for sharing your own experience with HK. Thanks to that I understood that with them is more than normal to wait for weeks to get delivered their orders even with their supposed express service, so not much reason to worry. Thank you again guys!

I've been buying loads of (small) stuff from HK for several years with virtually no problem, but if the stuff is really going via Purolator, lots of luck to you!

Every time I've had stuff shipped from anywhere via Purolator, the tracking information has been useless after being advised of a departure date, the delivery person makes no better effort to leave the package with you than sticking a notice on your door giving you an address in another town where you have to go to pick up, and then have the nerve to charge you for customs brokerage. My advice is if it can't be shipped by postal service, don't buy it from that supplier!
