I am setting up my escapade for electric, the 40 size escapade, I bought the eflite power 46 and the eflite 60 amp ESC, which I hope is an OK ESC. I will be running 1 4s battery at 3300 mah, should I be using a separate BEC or is the one in the ESC sufficient?. I'm also not sure if I should have bought the Castle 75 Ice instead, but now I'm stuck with the one I bought ..

Thanks, Paul

In my opinion what you bought is fine.
It seems a great plane to fly. Very similar to the Tiger 2 from Goldberg which I flew form trainer like to good acrobat.
There are more than one Escapade at WIMAC... check around for advice on flying it.

Paul , a BEC is safer, but I prefer to use one when the servo size are standard or biger servo. Or when I need more then 6 servo ( retrac and etc)in a model:)

You're good to go with the 60 amp esc, considering you use the right prop of course! :) The Eflite 60 Amp Pro ESC's BEC will be able to drive all of your servos in the Escapade, but for extra security you can install a 10 Amp Castle BEC for $26.99. Your choice really...

Hey Paul,

I had an Escapade set up with a RimFire .55 motor and a 6 cell lipo (2 x 3 cell packs in series). It was a very fast plane. Sadly, it crashed. The damage was more than what I was willing to deal with so I gave it to someone at the club. I am now flying an E-Flite Advance low wing trainer. Also a great flyer.

Cheers.

Paul,
I can't give you any advice about the electric side of the plane but, I can tell you some improvement I had to do.

The tail wheel is crap... buy a new one right away. The one supplied in the kit is too long and not strong enough. Also, the little wire keeps bending and the wheel is going in all the directions.

Check your CG correctly especially if you don't have the exact setup that they suggest. I had to put my battery pack on top of the gas tank up at the front.

I went with the 2 servos setup on the wings to be able to have a first try at flaps.

My other modifications concern nitro.

Hi Michel..I have read the same thing about the tail wheel.. I'll see how long it lasts, but I did buy another one from dubro, also I checked my CG with the CG balancer from great planes and with the 4S 3300 mah battery upto the firewall it is balancing perfect..I will change the conectors on the batteries tonight that I bought and hopefully get a 1st flight in tomorrow...Im really anxious, heard many good things about this plane
