HI
I just want to write about something that happend to me the last week. Well as you all know I will be leaving the country and the hobby beginning of August and I started selling of my Rc stuff, but I left me the option to keep some till the end. About two weeks ago I posted a thread here asking if anybody had a cheap plane for me that I could fly till when I leave. Well long story short Gilbert offerd me a Hangar 9 P 51 with around 200 flights on it. It looked a bit beat up , had holes on some places of the couvering etc. But for that price I could not say no, this was exactly what I was looking for! Gilbert fired up the 46 carried the P 51 to the runway, gave me the Tx ans said ok go fly!! Ehhh ok, does he know I usualy fly helis and that this is my second plane I ever flew and on top of it its a P51 Warbird! What the heck I thought, floored the throttle and of the plane went airborn, thats it! I scooted around for about 5 min than did a approach with flaps out and Gilbert was there to give me advice. Second approach and voila it was a good landing. I could not stop grinning.
I bought the plane of him the same day, took it home and did some minor touch ups, programmed it to my Tx and went to the field yesterday. I started flying at around 12 noon and stopped at around 7 pm. That day I killed half a Gallon flying a P51, sitting in the sun talking with Gilbert having a airrace with Tino etc etc. To be honest with you guys, that was for sure one of the best flying days I ever had in all my RC history. When I came home and put the little P51 on my kitchen table and cleaned it , I just could not stop grinning and then it dawned on me I had one of the best days of flying with a plane I paid less for then the tailservo on my Heli!!!!!!!!I thought to myself : Is it not great that you came back to enjoy the little things in life? Yes it is! Its awsome! :D Thanks alot Gilbert for making the reminder of my Summer so enjoyable, see you at the field next week, I will be on Vacation. That means alot of Nitro burning :D!

Regards Pete

Great to hear you enjoyed it so much. I couldn't agree more. I don't know why but it seems the natural progression in the hobby steers us (not all of us) away from the fun factor in order to increase our challenge factor with more expensive, complex and nicer looking models. I remember Michel D lent me his indoor 3D foamy. I couldn't believe how much fun this thing was. Never flew one because it just wasn't very attractive. Glad I did though. I'd say the "fun per dollar" is unmatched. Dare I say even sports cars don't come close. Of course this is just my opinion :)

Enjoyment per dollar- Not much better than a corplast combat plane with a streamer tied to the tail- 2 or 3 in the air together=5 times as much fun.

Naaaah! We are going first class in combat now... Check the Dogfighter from Multiplex... Nothing like expending money in toys....
