If you want to do like Paul, I mean flying with the Rud and élé and use only the flap for landing , plug the Y connector in the flap option in your receiver

When you turn on your TX .
its when you turn it on to select the modes and there you select Flaperons and for that you need to plug the right aileron in Ail and the left aileron in AUX1 thats it now you have flaperons.
I would suggest you program also Ailerons to Rudder as when you have full flaperons the aileron creates lots of drag and makes it difficult to turn so you will need to feed in rudder.
If your ailerons are near the wing tips you may be better off using them as spoilerons i.e. just the same set up but they move upwards to dump lift in the outer wing section therefore reducing the tendency to tip stall. This is a far more common set-up on gliders with long thin wings. The effect is very similar to flaps in reducing the glide slope for landing. Flaps are better for powered aircraft as you can have power on approach.
