Immerse them in a heavy solution of water and salt for about 15 hours.
Then use the water to make erzatz coffee!

Forgot.... if you want to accelerate the process puncture the cells with a wooden skewer... unless you want some fun, then do it with a metal one....
This recipe comes from our friend Zorba...

No I think I will just dump them and wait there is no hurry. What salt shall I get, would salt for melting snow do? I guess or?
It is a good idea to fully discharge them first. Your charger can take them down to approx. 3v per cell then use a suitable resistor to do the rest. For a 3S battery I calculate a 100ohm, 1w resistor will do the job in 10 hours. I used a higher resistance, as I found one in the draw, and left if for a few days.
Use plenty of salt and leave them for a long as you like, a few days is good. After all that they can be disposed into the garbage as they are landfill safe and nobody wants to recycle them.
