Hi everyone, i have a p-51 mustang with a old engine on it, maybe some of you saw me trying to fly it, i did 2 flights one lasted 15 seconds due to engine failure and the other was like 3 minutes and also the engine stalled on me i was able to land the aircraft both time successfully and no major damage was done.

However i am concerned with the safety of this aircraft because its very fast and does not have a reliable engine.

I am wondering if anyone can tell me what electric motor would be good to install on my .60 P-51 Mustang

Many manufacturers are starting to size their electric motors with the equivalent of a glow engine. The first one was e-flite.

There are a few rules of thumb about fitting an electric motor to a plane.

Look around, the manufacturers sometimes give the electric motor conversion.
Look at the article I uploaded.

From e-flite, manual included in their motors.

You know Vadim, to start on EP convertion, you will need more then a motor...dont forget :) ESC, lipo ,charger etc. If the plane is 6lb dry or less, I maybe have a use motor for free but you will still need around $120 to $150 to complet your plane:cool:

I agree for this type of heavy scale plane electric is expensive. You will need approx. 1200w, therefore a big motor such as E-Flite 60, a 80A ESC and 6S 6000mAh batteries. Batteries even at HK prices are $70-110 per pack.

I am sure somebody in the club has a 60 size 2 stroke or 90 size four stroke glow engine sitting unused in a draw.

Ask David J. I think he has glow engines.

I agree whit Mike!!!
On This size plane, I think just change the engine 2 or 4 stroke
