View Full Version : Is WIMAC about to loose its location???

A WIMAC Club Director has recently contacted the land owner of our
field (Ile Perrot R/C Club) if he could rent/lease the land our club
is situated on. Bizarre indeed. We all know R/C fields are hard to
come by. Is this a new form of R/C cannibalism?
The Ile Perrot R/C Club is a small club in existence on the same
location for over 35 years. It has no intention to cease to exist
and no rumors has ever circulated to that effect.
Why then a WIMAC club director (I will not mention his name)
would try to do such a thing???
An explanation is in order.

Even if everything indicates that the WIMAC site will remain available for a long time to come, the construction of houses in the vicinity requires us to be open to other possibilities in case we ever lost the use of our site.
With the creation of the new club Blue Max and the possible effects it might have on the île Perrot club, I wanted to reassure the owner that if the existing tenants did not wish to continue renting, WIMAC would be interested. He told me that he would discuss it with his tenant, which if I understood to be François Lamarre and not the club, to see what was happening..
The offer was made to insure the preservation of an exceptional site for R/C. If it is not required so much the better.
The WIMAC is an open club with beginners as well as pros, youngsters and others as well. And if WIMAC became tenant of the site, you would be more than welcome to become a member and continue to fly at the site. Also you would have access to Indoor and year-round flying .
And as you have noticed, our members enjoy an excellent web site to express their views and concerns.
Great initiative Ronald, I fully support this...
I am curious to know how many members still use Ile-Perrot, I hear it is quite empty these days. Now there is an "old boys club" if I ever heard of one. I imagine it will be even less utilized if the discontent/booted ex-Ile-Perrot members are successful in their in-devour.

I pass the Ile Perrot field every day and I hardly or ever see somebody fly. That will hopefully change with the new Blue Max club. All I know is that Blue Max is approved and will be up and running. I actually will be one of those involved on the HELI side. Wimac is a great club with great people and a good site so werever they should get involved I am quite sure it will be vor the benefit of all.

A few years ago I spent most of the summer flying at îles Perrot more than WIMAC. Of course it is a great field to fly at, trees are far away it is a very smooth grass runway and the MEMBERS are very nice people that are very welcoming.
The new club Blue Max is made up mainly of old members of Les Moulins a Vent I wish them good luck in setting up their new club.

We may even think that WIMAC is well enough organised that it could have two sites in the future. The one we have now may have to become an electric only field if the houses get too close and we would have another field for piston airplanes. I know of a few clubs in Ontario and in the US that have more than one field.
Just an idea for the future.
I also agree that loosing the site at Ile Perrot would be a lost to all modelists. Since it doesn't seems to be run as a typical club, it may well happen at one point. It is sad to see so many 'guerre de clochets' in such a small community that are the model airplane (& heli) people.

That just sums it up. Could not agree more.

Who do I contact for some info?
This is a WIMAC website, if you need to speak to someone in another club, you would normally try to contact someone from that club....
