Hi guys, Well this weekend I was in Kingston for the Annual Kingston IMAA Giant Scale Event. Bob Milne my friend from Kingston invited me to attend the event. It was more than worth it going to this event. This year, it was a record turn out. They had 85 registered Pilots and Sunday morning one more registered, for a grand total of 86. I am sure over 100 planes were there. Some of them were outstanding in finish and detail. Plus they flew, and flew very well. The quality of pilots I must say for this event was very high, and also very disciplined. Most of the time 5 of us were in the air at the same time. No mid airs, no accidents. We did a left turn rectangle. on the down leg we could do loops, rolls or whatever the plane or pilot could do. The grounds were like a golf green. Dave Penchuk was the Master of ceremony, and Brian Wattie was also involved in the organization. This was one event a scale buff should not of missed. They had I think 3 BB Q's set up for hot dogs and hamburgers. Over 3500 dollars in prizes. AMR gave a kit and a 26cc engine for one prise. Motors, power boards, engine cut off switches, epoxies, Simulators by Great Planes, it went on and on. Every flier won a prize. I myself got a 50.00 gift certificate from Leading Edge hobbies. Also I won a Zap Slo-Zap thick CA, which will come in handy.
Jean Blanquierre was there representing AMR with a large tent and some kits, also that immense Ugly STick which you see in the pictures. I forgot to mention that KMP gave away their new plane, that is coming out soon. They had also 200 tickets for the KMP kit and they were sold out very fast. Thanks to all the sponsors which makes events like this profitable for the clubs.
I brought my GEE BEE Y which was a big hit. I got in 5 nice long flights. Many were taking pictures of it. I got to see many of my old friends that I use to fly with back in the 60's and 70's.
This was one well organize event. I am sure next year it will be even bigger, based on what we heard over the weekend.
I would like to thanks those that were involved in the organization of this event. Especially Brian and Dave. A job well done.
Will be there next year.
Bob
