Santa stopped by early at my place and I got my new plane today. It will be my F3A competition airplane for next season with the goal to finally make it on the Canadian Team for the next World Championship.
I was able to try a new technic to trim the plane on the last few flying days this fall and it seems very promissing. The new plane will be trimmed that way also. In the end, I removed almost all the programming in the radio and the plane was flying straight in all directions, whatever the speed or power setting.

Here are the first pictures and I will be adding more as the build progresses:

Note: Here is a picture of the final product and a picture of the very detailled instruction manual... :-)

I finally started working on the plane after receiving the replacement fuse. It is progressing better than I expected. I am still expecting to fly it mid-April. I have to order a few things to complete it. The weight estimate looks good for now but I haven't considered the covering weight yet.

The plane is not completely finished (cosmetic) but it had 12 flights on the long weekend. It is starting to get trimmed. I am happy with the color scheme as it is very visible in the air.

The plane has now 106 flights and we are getting better and better together every time :-) It took longer than I expected to get use to it. Even if it was feeling good right away, I was having trouble flying sequences. After some adjustments, it has improved enough to leave the older airplane home. After over 600 flights over 2 years on the previous model, it wasn't easy to change to the new one.

The plane has escaped stab-elevator flutter with reparable damaged to the nose on the following not too smooth landing on flight 25. It also lost the canopie in the wood later on but it was found the next week. So I guess that it should survive for a long time now. During the winter, I will repaint the fuse to make it look better.

3 more weeks before the Canadian team trial in Victoria. It looked so far away just a few weeks ago and now it's almost there... :-)
