Ok after seeing David brand new HS635HB braking a gear jsut like that and Greg mentionning problems, I check RC univ and people talk about those Hitec gears not being for giant planes, I guess meaning for gasser(vibration). But those comments dates form a few years ago.
So has anybody heard anything more on this; should I go to metal gears and keep those for throtle let say?

Kevin, go to metal gears, I had a bunch of Karbonite Hitec servos, and 4 of them stripped. cause a couple of crashes, especially on the ailoron. I got flutter and wam o, lost control of the plane even after cutting engine. I now have been using only metal gears, even on throttle servo. I am on 2.4 so metal to metal is not a problem. If you are still on 72, then use your carbonite on throttle, but the rest use metal gear. and even on throttle, you can use metal gear servo if you use nyrod and nylon keepers.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Bob,
So now I'm thinking of either the HS625MG about the same spec as the 635 but MG or go to better performance with the HS965MG.
But I think I remember Michael having problem with this one on his throttle?
Kevin
Michael I know you can answer this one; cause you have lots of free time these days, maybe putting Andrew to sleep at 2AM:D

I haven't had any problems with that servo.
It is very fast though, you might like the 985.

HS645MG are very commun, lots of torque at very good price, the speed is not too bad on 6v.... you can get them new on ebay... I have got some of them there and they work great..

You mean it's too fast for me;)
Ya I saw that 985 its slower but more torque, same price(66.50$).

I mean it is more of a 3D servo, I have never seen you do 3D so I was just saying.
:) I know you were kidding.

It's still only going to move as quick as you move your sticks :p

Well this plane is going to be around 2 to 3 pounds lighter...hello 3D.

I always thought Karbonite was another name for "plastic" gears...
I seem to remember that some servos are MG but with one Karbonite component... Check it Kevin....

well I have 5 x 965 coming in this week so I be able to start that plane.
Albert those karbonite are grey in color and they are all karbonite in the servo from what I saw in David's servo.
