Was wondering about the smoke systems that the planes are using, I fly electric planes and helis does the smoke system work with electric?

Not a basic system like these guys have, as it uses exhaust temperature to burn off a special oil mixture.
I don't know if anyone has ever riggrd one to use a small fan, a pump and a heating element, but if you can carry the weight, I'm sure it could be done.

I suppose you could use some type of pyrotechnic device or whatever the parachutists use ... it would be worth a search to see if any system is available for electrics.

Now that you mention it Dwight, I remember seeing some "flare" type smoke systems, with colored smoke to boot. There's an article on it on RC Universe :

...and flares could ignite the dry grass in the field....

I tried that same system on my P47 and it didn't work well. Probably that it would be ok on a slower airplane.
I was also concerned about the fire hazard but there was no heat or flame.
