New fiberglass canopy needs painting...

Hi guys,

Asking help to find out if I can use primer on fiberglass before I paint my new canopy. I will be using cheap aerosol automotive paint. I also want to put a clear coat afterwards. Any tips???

Hi Pete, Yes you can, Make shure you wetsand the canopy with 400 paper.
Also make shure that you use the flexible primer which is made for todays bumpers.(grey)

After it dries wetsand with 600 to 800 paper and paint.

If it's for a nitro bird,

think of having it cleared by a automotive painter with a two part clear coat

Why !!

Because, nitro is hard on paint and the two par clears are harder, clearer, don't yellow and are very toxic to breath in !!

Those guys do a good job for 20-50 $$
