This is the largest helicopter in service right now, and I believe it's Russian.

I read an article about it not so long ago, I just can't locate it right now...

Yup it is big. Russian and the Tailrotor has the diameter of a Robinson R22 Mainrotor :D . The Americans chartered one not long ago . The mission was to bring down a Chinook that crashed in the Mountains of Afghanistan, since they do not have any helicopters that can lift that weight at that altitude. Well after the Chinnok was hooked up it took that Heli 15 Min to bring it down from the mountains. Its big and powerfull, got to love russian helis.

If they ever get some (JetA1) fuel money to put in her to fly....
Lol...

As the "R" millitary have no budget how so ever to make their fighter pilots MIG's fly for proper training flying times on them... At lease that what they are telling us... Maybe civilians helicopters have more chance to have a sip of JETA1 fuel once every now and then...

Great helicopter,
thanks for the pic's buddy!

I received an email with that same picture and the text below:

The Utsky

This is a photograph of the world's largest helicopter that happened to be on the tarmac in Dease Lake, B.C. recently. It is to be used for taking mining equipment and cargo out to a new mine called Galore Creek. It is owned by a Russian company and is called the Utsky.
The chopper couldn't land at the air strip at Bob Quinn Lake because it wasn't paved, so it had to land in Dease Lake until the landing site north of Bob Quinn could be inspected. This helo's wash will pick up rocks 12 inches in diameter and fling them around like leaves.
Some stats:Russian crew of 6; 2 Pilots, 1 Navigator, 2 Mechanics, 1 Loadmaster
A semi-trailer will fit in it.
Carries 75 troops
Burns 2000 litres of fuel per hour
580 km range
Costs $30,000/hr to rent
40 metres long 8 blades about 2 feet wide
The Russian built 'Sky Crane' that is used for lifting lumber out of inaccessible mountain areas was big, but this makes a Sky Crane' look like a mosquito by comparison.
Dease Lake is in NW British Columbia, west of Fort Nelson and east of Juneau Alaska.
