The Carter copter has wings for instance.
At about 170 Mph they slow down the rotor and fly mostly on the wings.
This is the concept of their design: short wings for effective higher speed flights, self rotating rotor with a very high inertia allowing very safe autorotations for jump take off and almost vertical landings even if the engine goes dead.
I followed them since four year ago I think they have created a very versatile and appealing machine.
I wish to own one :) but I would have to sell my house first :(
